Maybe the last shot of this long winter or at least I sure hope so. What caught my eye in this scenery was the stairs and the nothing beyond them. The trees were acting like some gatekeepers, inviting you to find out what lies beyond.
"I love talking about nothing. It is the only thing I know anything about." Oscar Wilde
Today was the last snow of this winter, today is the last cold day of this season. It's been fun, it's been strange, it's been too real.
---------------------------------------------------- Additional Info
This is a beautiful image full of contrasts and yet full of depth. The rising of the stairs to the crest of the hill works well to draw the viewer into the depth of the picture plain.
The detail on the trees is fantastic, I love the fact that the right side looms over the left. The darkness on the right is balanced by the light on the left.
There is a sense of magic of waiting to see what is right over the hill. It's not a frightening moment but one of quiet beauty that inspires those who look upon it.
The contrast and composition is just about perfect. The white snow, dark, damp woods and the blue gray of the sky and earth is peaceful to the eye.
The sharp edge of the horizon evokes an adventureous anxiety, while inviting the curious/courageous to the edge. The rule of thirds is obviously honored as the photo draws the eye directly down the path to the unknown.
I would have enjoyed seeing the entire branch paths of the the trees to each side of the cropping.
I will be adding this winter beauty to my tree collection. Thank you.
